Young Woman Shot in the Head During Family Disturbance in Maverick County

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber announced the shooting of a young woman in the head at Casales Road in southern Eagle Pass, Texas, outside the city limits, by a male individual during a family disturbance on Monday, January 31, 2022, at approximately 12 Noon.
The victim was transported by the Eagle Pass Fire Department EMS Ambulance to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for medical treatment of her critical injuries sustained as a result of being shot in the head, undergoing surgery.
A male individual was arrested as a suspect in the shooting of the woman.
Maverick County Sheriff’s Department received a telephone call for shots fired and a family disturbance and dispatched Deputies to respond to the incident.
Domestic violence is a serious problem in Maverick County with reported incidents getting more violent as firearms are used.
On October 30, 2021, a family violence incident in northern Eagle Pass at a subdivision in Hopedale area resulted in the murder-suicide of a young couple as the husband shot the wife twice and then turned the gun on himself, killing both.
The January 31, 2022 incident is under investigation by the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department Detective Division and the Texas Rangers.
