Eagle Pass Port Director Paul Del Rincon Announces ‘Temporary’ Assignment in Washington, D. C.

Eagle Pass Port of Entry Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Director Paul Del Rincon announced on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, that he was “temporarily” stepping down as Director due to him receiving a temporary assignment at the U. S. Department of Homeland Security Department Headquarters in Washington, D. C. effective next week (March 7).
Del Rincon stated he would be gone as Eagle Pass Port of Entry CBP Director for several months, possibly until the summer, but planned to return to his post.
Del Rincon also announced that Del Rio Port of Entry CBP Deputy Director Gilbert Calderon has been named as the new Eagle Pass Port of Entry CBP Director to replace him during his temporary assignment at headquarters.
Calderon is originally from El Paso, Texas and has worked as the Deputy Director at the Del Rio Port of Entry prior to coming to Eagle Pass.
Calderon stated he looks forward to working at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry and continuing the programs implemented by Del Rincon during his tenure as well as working with the professional staff at Eagle Pass CBP and the community.
Del Rincon has implemented several CBP programs that use technology to facilitate the entry and departure of people entering the United States as well as promoted greater international trade and commerce at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
