South Texas Training Academy Celebrates Grand Opening on March 12, 2022

The South Texas Training Academy (STX), owned by Jose and Claudia Villa, celebrated its long-awaited grand opening on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at its newly completed state of the art athletics and cheer training facility located at 2008 N. Bibb Avenue in Eagle Pass, Texas amid over 150 persons in attendance.
Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas welcomed the much needed athletics and cheer training facility for the youth and adult athletes of Eagle Pass and Maverick County. Mayor Salinas congratulated owners Jose and Claudia Villa on their innovative training facility and significant investment and confidence in our growing community of Eagle Pass.
South Texas Training Academy, also known as STX Training Academy, is the brainchild of Jose and Claudia Villa. Jose and Claudia Villa were standout athletes and cheerleaders in their younger years at Eagle Pass High School. Both went on to college and starred in their respective sports and returned to Eagle Pass to train young athletes and cheer students seeking to attain professional training and counseling while reaching their maximum potential in their respective sports activities.
After more than 15 years of training and coaching Eagle Pass students at their home and a previous rented facility, Jose and Claudia Villa took a giant leap of faith in purchasing a centrally located property in Eagle Pass and built a 9,000 square feet state of the art athletics and cheer training facility unparalleled in the state of Texas.
STX Training Academy mission is “attaining personal accomplishments while elevating athletic performance” of each student athlete under the guidance of the well-qualified coaching staff, said Jose Villa. The STX Training Academy staff “ensures the welfare of all participants and utilizes proper techniques and coaching instruction to maximize the performance potential of each athlete,” added Jose Villa.
At STX Training Academy, training services include personal and group training and drills in such sports as baseball, softball, football, cheer and dancing, and other sports. STX Training Academy also offers strength and conditioning training, personal weight training, speed and agility training, sport specific training, and weight loss training.
The new facility offers state of the art weight training equipment, artificial turf grass, the latest technology and equipment to enhance individual performance of each athlete student, batting cages for baseball and softball, cheer training area, a comfortable lobby area, and an official Wilson Sporting Goods store.
Jose and Claudia Villa were accompanied by their children, parents, family members, supporters, local coaches, parents of current athletes, and current student athletes at the grand opening on March 12, 2022.
A local youth sports promoter and former traveling team coach stated the new state of the art South Texas Training Academy will propel and advance local student athletes among the elite level in the state of Texas and United States that were previously unavailable in the community. The South Texas Training Academy will offer local student athletes the opportunity to enhance their athletics skills and training similar to those athletes from San Antonio, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and other cities throughout Texas and the United States.
The new South Texas Training Academy is and will become a game changer for local student athletes and make a difference in the peak and elite performance of local talent, said the former traveling team coach and youth sports promoter.
