Eagle Pass Lady Eagles Clinch District 30-6A Softball Championship as Head Coach Oscar Ruiz is Selected to Lead All-Star Team

The Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles clinched the 2022 District 30-6A Softball Championship on Monday, August 11, 2022 with a win over the Laredo United South Lady Panthers, improving to 11-0 in District standings and one final district game remaining against nemesis Del Rio Queens on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 7 p.m.
The Del Rio game is at home and has been designated as Parents Night with festivities beginning at 6 p.m.
Lady Eagles Head Softball Coach Oscar Ruiz has been selected to Coach in the inaugural 2022 Texas Select Softball Coaches All-Star Game at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.
Coach Ruiz has been at the helm of the Lady Eagles Softball Program for 15 years now, since 2006-2007. Under the tutelage of Coach Ruiz, the Lady Eagles have amassed a record of 344 Wins, 114 Losses, and six tie games during the past 15 years.
The Lady Eagles have developed as one of the elite high school fastpitch softball programs in Texas under Coach Ruiz, earning 12 District Championships, 13 Bi-District Championships, 7 Area Championships, and six Regional Qualifiers.
Coach Ruiz inherited an experienced senior class team in 2006-2007 in his first season that won the District Championship, Area Championship, and fell in the Regional Quarterfinals against La Joya Lady Coyotes on a controversial home plate call in a best of three series, featuring such athletes as Alexa Christina Calderon, Marisol Lopez, Vanessa De Luna, Alyssa Alfaro, Patricia De Los Santos, Yvette Jimenez, Alexis Gonzalez, Izella Flores, Larissa Gonzalez, Alexia Luna, and others. Since that magical 2007 first season, the Lady Eagles reload each year with new talented player-athletes.
Many of Coach Ruiz’s athletes have gone on to excel in NCAA collegiate teams from Division I, II, and III as well as succeeded in their academic and career endeavors.
