Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks 2022 Football Schedule Released

The thundering Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Mavericks Head Football Coach Eric Villasenor released the 2022 Varsity Football Schedule to the Eagle Pass Business Journal.
The Winn Mavericks will compete in the redesigned highly competitive District 13-5A, Division I during the 2022 season with some new teams added. New District 13-5A schools include Laredo Nixon Mustangs, Medina Valley Panthers, and San Antonio South San Bobcats while San Antonio Southwest Dragons, San Antonio Southwest Legacy Titans, Laredo Cigarroa Toros, Laredo Martin Tigers, and San Antonio Southside Cardinals remain in the district.
The Mavericks will open freshman team practice on Monday, August 1, 2022 while the varsity team starts practicing on Monday, August 8 since they held Spring practices earlier this year.
The Mavericks will scrimmage the Del Rio Rams and the Fort Stockton Panthers on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 6 p.m. at the Walter Levermann Stadium in Del Rio, Texas to prepare for the 2022 season.
The Mavericks open the 2022 regular season with a key non-district game against cross-town rival Eagle Pass Eagles on Friday, August 26 at 7 p.m. at the Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass. The Mavericks will seek their first victory against the Eagles in their storied rivalry series.
The second game of the season is a non-district game against the Uvalde Coyotes on Friday, September 2 at 7 p.m. at the Honey Bowl in Uvalde, Texas. The Mavericks versus Coyotes game has developed into a rivalry between the teams.
The Mavericks have an early Open Week during the third week of the regular season during September 5-9, 2022 before starting District 13-5A, Division I action. The Mavericks embark on a grueling eight game district schedule following Open Week.
The Mavericks open District 13-5A play against the Laredo Nixon Mustangs on Friday, September 16 at 7 p.m. at the Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass. This game might be a defensive battle against the Mustangs “cloud of dust” ground attack and has been designated as Parents Night.
The fourth game is against District 13-5A rival San Antonio Southwest Dragons on Friday, September 23 at 7 p.m. at San Antonio Southwest Football Stadium in San Antonio, Texas. This is always a hard-hitting game with playoff implications.
The fifth game is against the Medina Valley Panthers (Castroville) on Friday, September 30 at 7 p.m. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass. This game has the potential to become a high scoring affair.
The sixth game is against the San Antonio South San Bobcats on Friday, October 7 at 7 p.m. at San Antonio South San Football Stadium in the Alamo City. The Mavericks will seek to declaw the Bobcats in their own den.
The seventh game is against the Laredo Cigarroa Toros on Thursday, October 13 at 7 p.m. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass. This game has will be competitive as the Toros have improved in recent years.
The eighth game is against the San Antonio Southwest Legacy Titans on Friday, October 21 at 7 p.m. at San Antonio Southwest Legacy Titans Stadium in Military City USA. This game will be a hard-hitting affair as the Titans have vastly improved.
The ninth game is against the Laredo Martin Tigers on Friday, October 28 at 7 p.m. at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass. The Mavericks versus Tigers game has grown into a rivalry and has been designated as Homecoming 2022.
The tenth and final regular season game is against the San Antonio Southside Cardinals on Friday, November 4 at 7 p.m. at the Southside Football Stadium in San Antonio. This game will definitely have playoff implications.
The Mavericks goal is to capture the District 13-5A, Division I Championship and advance deep into the state playoffs.
