Eagle Pass International Bridge System Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony of New Administration Building

The City of Eagle Pass, Texas International Bridge System held the groundbreaking ceremony of a new Administration Building to be constructed at the Eagle Pass Camino Real Bridge, also known as Eagle Pass Bridge II, on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr. stated the construction of the new Bridge System Administration building is an important development that will increase the administrative and meeting space for employees and stakeholders of the Bridge System. Salinas noted the project was long overdue and looks forward to the continuing growth of the Eagle Pass Port of Entry through collaboration with the U. S. Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and all stakeholders.
Eagle Pass Port of Entry CBP Interim Director Elizabeth Garduno was present at the groundbreaking ceremony together with other CBP Officers.
Salinas added that the Bridge System employees have been instrumental in the growth and work of the Eagle Pass International Bridge System and deserve to have a new Administration building.
Salinas noted the Eagle Pass International Bridge System generates over $33 billion in international trade through the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
Eagle Pass Interim City Manager Ivan Morua stated the construction of the new Eagle Pass International Bridge System Administration Building took 10 years to obtain the funding for it and now the project has received full funding and will become a reality. Morua thanked all past and present City Council members who supported the funding and development of the new Bridge System Administration building.
Eagle Pass International Bridge System General Manager Homero Balderas stated “it is very exciting to break ground on construction of the new Administration Building“ and thanked the Eagle Pass City Council for their support in funding the project. The new Administration building will feature state of the art technology and equipment to handle the rapidly growing traffic at the Eagle Pass International Bridges I and II.
Balderas has been an ardent advocate for the construction of a new Bridge System Administration building to replace the temporary manufactured housing office that has been operational for over 20 years.
Following the remarks by City of Eagle Pass officials, the official groundbreaking ceremony took place with the shoveling of the first dirt at the site of the new building.
