Early Voting Starts October 24 through November 4 at Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center, Regular Election Day is November 8

The November 8, 2022 Texas General Election kicks off with Early Voting starting on Monday, October 24, through Friday, November 4, at the City of Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center, 480 South Adams Street, Eagle Pass, Texas, announced Maverick County Elections Administrator Roy Schmerber. .
Over 34,000 Maverick County registered voters are eligible to cast a ballot in the upcoming November 8 General Election either during Early Voting, Regular Election Day, or by Mail upon request.
The highest number of Maverick County voters that have voted in an election is 11,323 voters. Local political observers note the low voter turnout of only 33.33% by Maverick County voters while other counties in Texas enjoy 50% to 70% voter participation rate. A local political observer stated “there is no reason why Maverick County can not enjoy a 50% or higher turnout in this November 8 General Election if the candidates work the election.”
There is one federal position on the ballot for U. S. House of Representative, District 19 of Texas, between Democrat John Lira and Republican Tony Gonzalez.
The key statewide political races on the ballot are for Governor of Texas between Democrat Beto O’Rourke and Republican Greg Abbott; Lieutenant Governor between Democrat Mike Collier and Republican Dan Patrick; Attorney General between Democrat Rochelle Garza and Republican Ken Paxton; Comptroller of Accounts between Democrat Janet T. Dudding and Republican Glenn Hegar; Commissioner of the General Land Office between Democrat Jay Kleberg and Republican Dawn Buckingham; Commissioner of Agriculture between Democrat Susan Hays and Republican Sid Miller; Railroad Commissioner between Democrat Luke Warford and Republican Wayne Christian; Justice, Supreme Court, Place 3 between Democrat Erin A. Nowell and Republican Debra Lehrmann; Justice, Supreme Court, Place 5 between Democrat Amanda Reichek and Republican Rebeca Huddie; Justice, Supreme Court, Place 9 between Democrat Julia Maldonado and Republican Evan Young; Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 5 between Democrat Dan Huffman and Republican Scott Walker; Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 6 between Democrat Robert Johnson and Republican Jesse F. Among the key Maverick County political races in contention are the Maverick County Judge between former Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu as the Democratic Party candidate and Republican Party candidate Armando Rosales; District Clerk between Democrat Leopoldo “Polo” Vielma and Republican Teresa Helena Gonzalez; County Treasurer between Democrat Rito J. Valdez and Republican Omar E. Rodriguez; County Commissioner Precinct No. 2 between Democrat Rosanna “Roxi” Rios and Republican Jose F. Rodriguez; County Commissioner Precinct No. 4 between Democrat Roberto Ruiz and Republican Alma Soliz; Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 between Democrat Kina Mancha and Republican Anna Gabriela Derbez; Justice of the Peace Precinct 3-1 between Democrat Domingo “Mingo” Rodriguez, Jr. and Republican Mark J. Smith; and County Constable Precinct No. 1, Unexpired Term Cecy Maldonado.
