Maverick County Democratic Party Chairperson Juanita V. Martinez announced hosting Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa in Eagle Pass on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at a reception with local Democratic Party candidates on the ballot in the November 8, 2022 General Election.
Hinojosa, an attorney from Brownsville, Texas and former Cameron County Judge, delivered an inspirational, fiery speech to Maverick County Democratic Party candidates, Precinct Chairs, and Executive Committee members urging them to turn out the vote in the upcoming November 8 General Election, starting with Early Voting during October 24 through November 4 at the Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center.
Hinojosa also served as a former District Court Judge in Cameron County and as a former Texas Court of Appeals Justice before being elected as the Texas Democratic Party Chairman on June 9, 2012. Hinojosa was re-elected as Texas Democratic Party Chairman in July 2022 at the State Convention. Hinojosa is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Texas-Pan American, now UT-Rio Grande Valley.
Hinojosa encouraged the Maverick County Democratic Party candidates and loyalists to seek public office to promote public service and progress in the State of Texas, including Maverick County and throughout South Texas. Hinojosa encouraged all eligible registered voters to cast their ballots during Early Voting from October 24 through November 4 or on Regular Election Day on November 8.
Martinez noted Judge Hinojosa’s leadership and support for the opening of the first ever Texas Democratic Party Regional Office in Eagle Pass, located at 1299 E. Main Street, earlier this year to assist Maverick County and surrounding counties with voter registration, canvassing, and get out the vote drives.
Maverick County has a total of 34,000 registered voters eligible to cast a ballot in the November 8 General Election, commencing with Early Voting on Monday, October 24, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, November 4, at the Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center.
