Eagle Pass Eagles Battle San Antonio Warren Warriors for Bi-District Football Championship

The District 30-6A Co-Champion Eagle Pass Eagles will battle the District 29-6A Fourth Place Representative San Antonio Warren Warriors for the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region IV, Division II Bi-District Football Championship on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 7 p.m. at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass, Texas.
The Eagles are coming off fresh from a win over arch-rival Del Rio Rams 35-15 last week to clinch a share of the District 30-6A Championship with a 4-1 district mark and 9-1 overall season record. The Eagles fell two weeks ago to Laredo United South Panthers 34-28 after winning eight consecutive games to start the season.
The Warren Warriors defeated San Antonio Sotomayor Wildcats 41-7 last week to improve their record to 5-3 in District 29-6A and 7-3 overall in the season. The Warriors hail from the highly competitive San Antonio Northside Independent School District. The Warriors are on a three game winning streak, including the 41-7 victory over the Sotomayor Wildcats, a 49-35 win over the Stevens Falcons, and a 40-12 win over the O’Connor Panthers.
The Eagles’ self-proclaimed “War Eagle” offense will call upon quarterbacks Isaac Stanwick and Andres Garcia to guide a balanced offensive attack, featuring running back Thomas J. Mares and wide receivers Kyle Gloria, Wilfredo Frausto, Jose Hernandez, Chris Frausto, and Sebastian Diaz. The Eagles offense will rely on their speed and athleticism to score against the Warriors defense.
The Eagles self-proclaimed “Land Shark” defense will be led by linebackers Diego Villarreal, Jesse James Martinez, Eddie Valadez, and Felix Samaniego, defensive ends Gunnar Caballero, Diego Martinez, and Ulises Perez, defensive tackles Izhar Mauricio, Omar Gonzalez, Freddy Gloria, Oshante Alvarez, and defensive backs Robert De La Garza, Robert Gutierrez, Armando Lechler, Adrien Morales, Jake Zapata, and Diego Garcia.
The Warriors have a strong, balanced offense featuring quarterback Antonio Meza, running backs Aidan Teal and Rene Riojas, wide receivers Darian Holmes, Elijah Realzola, and Nate Medelez. The Warriors average about 60% passing and 40% running game, averaging 45 points per game. The Eagles “Land Shark” defense will have their hands full containing the explosive Warriors offense. The Warriors have a solid defense with size and speed that will challenge the Eagles “War Eagle” offense.
