9th Annual Jesus “Chuy” Sanchez Memorial Cowboy Breakfast Kicks-Off 2023 Maverick County Jr. Livestock Show

The 9th Annual Jesus “Chuy” Sanchez Memorial Cowboy Breakfast held on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Zan Mathies Show Barn in the Maverick County Lake Park in Eagle Pass, Texas officially kicked-off the 2023 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show and Sale (MCJLS) with an estimated 500 persons attending the annual breakfast sponsored by the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce and Maverick County Junior Livestock Show Association (MCJLS), announced Roberto Martinez, President of the MCJLS.
Dr. Claudia Rodriguez-Wright and Danielle Byrne welcomed the enthusiastic audience in attendance and thanked them for their support of all Maverick County 4-H and FFA members.
The traditional Cowboy Breakfast is named after former MCJLS President Jesus “Chuy” Sanchez who dedicated his adult life to the promotion of the Maverick County Junior Livestock Show and Sale and support of local Maverick County youth.
MCJLS President Roberto Martinez presented the 2023 MCJLS Board of Directors and volunteers and invited all local businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals to attend the five day 2023 MCJLS event as there are many activities planned during this year’s show and to become a Buyer of one or more animal projects shown at this year’s event on Saturday, January 21, at the Live Auction Sale scheduled at 11 a.m.
Local businesses and members of the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce donated prizes and gifts that were awarded to lucky ticket holders drawn at random by members of the FFA.
The Eagle Pass High School FFA members served as volunteers serving the traditional Cowboy Breakfast cooked by the experienced ranch cooks of the MCJLS.
The C. C. Winn High School Silver Line Dance Team members participated as hostesses and sanitation control.
The Maverick County 4-H and FFA Color Guard presented the colors at the opening of the Cowboy Breakfast followed by an invocation, pledge of allegiance, and national anthem.
MCJLS President Roberto Martinez invites the entire community, children and adults alike, to attend and enjoy the 2023 MCJLS during January 17-21, 2023 as there are many exciting and fun activities happening at the show. Admission is open to the public and free. Y’all come on down and have a grand time at the 2023 MCJLS.
