Former Maverick County Sheriff Deputy Found Guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Minor Child by Jury
A former Maverick County Sheriff Deputy, Frank Velasquez, was found guilty of two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Minor Child by a 293rd Judicial District Court Jury on Thursday, January 26, 2023, after a trial presided by visiting District Judge Elma Salinas Ender, according to sources.
Following the trial on the merits and finding of guilty, the jury heard evidence on the sentencing phase of the trial to determine the term of punishment to be assessed against Velasquez.
After the sentencing phase concluded, the Maverick County jury sentenced Velasquez to a term of 25 years of imprisonment for each of the two counts to be served concurrently without the benefit of parole.
Velasquez was taken into custody and immediately began serving his sentence subject to any rights of appeal he may exercise, if any.
The 293rd Judicial District Attorney Roberto Serna advised this publication that his office will issue a formal press release on Monday, January 30, 2023.
