Eagle Pass City Council and City Charter Amendment Election Early Voting Underway at Multi-Purpose Center

As the City of Eagle Pass, Texas is experiencing an economic development boom and growth, the current Eagle Pass City Council and City Charter Amendment Election of May 6, 2023 importance grows larger with the future of Eagle Pass depending on the election results as Early Voting is underway now from April 24 through May 2, 2023 at the Multi-Purpose Center, 480 S. Adams Street, Eagle Pass, Texas. Regular Election Day is Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Multi-Purpose Center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Two City Council Places, Place 1 and 3, are on the May 6 Election ballot with a total of three candidates vying for Place 1 and four seeking Place 3. Who will win? Who will be elected to lead the City’s economic boom and growth? Will taxes increase? Have you voted yet? Your vote does make a difference.
Bidding for City Council Place 1 are incumbent William “Billy” Davis who seeks re-election to continue the economic boom and growth, but he is being challenged by Sandra Sassano, Chair of the Maverick County Republican Party, and Mariano Flores who believe a change of leadership is necessary to lead the future of the community. Who will win? You have the power to decide by going to vote.
Competing for City Council Place 3 seeking to replace term-limited Mayor Pro-Tem Yolanda P. Ramon are Mario E. Garcia, an administrator with the local school district, retired educator and veteran Ricardo S. Lopez, educator Ana Laura Herrera, and veteran and college student Ruben J. Camarillo. Who will win? Will there be a run-off election? You get to decide by casting a ballot.
Also on the May 6 City Election is an amendment to the City Charter clarifying the term limits on City Council and Mayor positions.
Early Voting is now underway at the Multi-Purpose Center until Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A special Saturday Election Day will be held this Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
City Secretary Imelda Rodriguez and staff are running a smooth Early Voting Period at the Multi-Purpose Center and are readily available to assist you. It only takes 10 minutes or less to vote in the City Council and City Charter Amendment Election.
