Eagle Pass Teen Murdered, Teen Suspect Arrested
The Maverick County Sheriff’s Department announced that an 18 year old teen male, Angel Garcia, was shot twice in the early morning hours of Monday, May 1, 2023, in the Chula Vista Subdivision in southern Maverick County and died from his gunshot wounds while being transported to a San Antonio, Texas medical center for treatment.
Garcia was shot in the head and chest at a residence in Chula Vista Subdivision by another male subject allegedly after an argument.
Garcia was transported by ambulance to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to a San Antonio medical center, but passed away before arriving to the San Antonio facility.
A 17 year old teen suspect, Rodolfo Perez, has been arrested by Maverick County Sheriff’s Department for the murder of Garcia.
Perez was booked into the Tom Bowles Maverick County Detention Center for the alleged murder of Angel Garcia. Perez is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
This tragic death has raised concerns among Maverick County citizens as there have been a rash of murders in the community in recent months.
In addition, law enforcement authorities are investigating several shootings involving teens in Eagle Pass and Maverick County in the past year, raising concerns regarding the easy availability of guns and rifles to teens in society.
Garcia’s murder is under investigation by the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Rangers.
