8th Annual Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Event Celebrated

The Maverick County Hospital District Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Program sponsored the 8th Annual Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Event and Fashion Show on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the City of Eagle Pass International Center for Trade, in Eagle Pass, Texas, featuring an extraordinarily courageous and beautiful fashion show of local women stricken by cancer and survivors of the disease that demonstrated their strength and perseverance to overcome cancer.
Among the runway warriors who participated in the fashion show included Rosa Vielma, Celia Isordia, Dolores Ruiz, Irene Arizpe, Dalia Martínez, Rosy Moncada, Mary Velez, Flor Pérez, Rosa Herrera, Sylvia Campos, Jacqueline De La Torre, Doramalia García, Diana Martínez, and Sofia Saldivar.
Master of Ceremony was radio disc jockey personality, Julie Ann Solis of KINL 92.7 FM Radio, of Eagle Pass, Texas.
Keynote speaker at the event was Dr. Cesar Tula of MCHD.
Present at the event included Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors Aaron Valdez, Chairman; Rebecca Robinson, Vice-Chair; Humberto Duran, Board member; Alma Martínez, CEO; Nestor Bonilla, CFO; Yanet Palacios, BCCS Coordinator; and April Gonzalez, BCCS Outreach Specialist; Elias Diaz, Eagle Pass City Council Member; and Leopoldo Vielma, Maverick County District Clerk; and other local dignitaries.
Hundreds of guests, family members, and friends attended the successful event. Entertainment was provided by the Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Toro Azabache Mariachi Band, Seco Mines Elementary Dance Team, and the Sam Houston Elementary Cheer and Dance Teams.
Many local healthcare providers and businesses participated in an exposition and donated gifts raffled at the event.
In addition, many local businesses served as event volunteers and ushers.
October is recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the United States.
