Consul of Mexico in Eagle Pass to Celebrate “Dia de Muertos” on October 28th, Festival Open to Public

Consul of Mexico in Eagle Pass, Texas Vivian Juarez Mondragon and the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Relations cordially invite the public to attend and participate in the first annual outdoor “Dia de Muertos” Festival on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the historic Fort Duncan Barracks in Eagle Pass, Texas, featuring a “Catrin” and “Catrina” costume contest, “Pan de Muerto” baking contest, a Day of the Dead Altar contest, live musical groups and dance groups from both Mexico and the United States, a health fair, and lots of food booths and refreshments with entertainment for the entire family. Admission is totally free except for food and refreshment consumption.
“Dia de Muertos” (Day of the Dead) is a celebration of life and death, a tribute to our departed loved ones and ancestors, and a cultural rite of passage for all Mexicans.
The “Dia de Muertos” Festival kicks off on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 4 p.m. with the official inauguration by Mexican Consul Vivian Juarez Mondragon and dignitaries.
Following the inauguration, an afternoon and evening of wonderful entertainment and fun awaits attendees with a diverse mix of dance and musical groups.
Among the highlight of the “Dia de Muertos” are contests for the best costume of a “Catrin” and a “Catrina”, the best “Pan de Muerto”, the Best Altar, and many more fun filled activities.
Consul Vivian Juarez Mondragon invites all of the residents of Eagle Pass, Del Rio, Brackettville, Uvalde, La Pryor, Batesville, Crystal City, Carrizo Springs, Asherton, Big Wells, South Texas, and from northern State of Coahuila, Mexico to join and attend the historic first ever outdoor “Dia de Muertos” Festival by the Consul de Mexico in Eagle Pass, Texas.
