Eagle Passans will have a prime location to witness the annular solar Eclipse on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at approximately 10:20 a.m., according to the United States National Weather Service.
Many local citizens, scientists, tourists, and visitors have made reservations at Eagle Pass hotels and motels, bed and breakfast inns, and rental properties for the annular solar eclipse to personally enjoy and participate in the October 14, 2023 solar eclipse.
The annular solar eclipse is scheduled to cross North, Central, and South America on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Millions of people in the Western Hemisphere will be able to witness and experience the eclipse.
An annular solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth while it is at its farthest point from Earth. Since the Moon is farther away from Earth, it appears smaller than the Sun and does not completely cover the Star, creating a “Ring of Fire” effect in the sky.
Viewers of the eclipse are advised to wear special purpose solar filters or eyeglasses. People are warned not to use their regular eye vision or sunglasses to view the eclipse. Do not look at the sun through a camera, telescope, or binoculars unless these devices have a solar filter, your solar eclipse glasses are not sufficient.
NASA recommends all persons viewing the annular solar eclipse wear solar eclipse eye glasses or solar filters.
