The City of Eagle Pass and AEP Texas LED Conversion Project Underway

Eagle Pass, TX – Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr. and the City Council are proud to announce that the City of Eagle Pass and AEP Texas have officially launched their LED Conversion Project. The City of Eagle Pass and AEP Texas have agreed to implement a mass change-out of existing streetlights within the city limits and replace them with new LED street lighting.
The LED Conversion Project will involve the installation of 1,390 lights in 2023 and 2024. The City of Eagle Pass will invest approximately $191,625 in this project. AEP Texas will upgrade all existing streetlights within the city limits and replace them with an LED light of equivalent wattage
range. The project of installing a total of 1,390 LED lights is tentatively scheduled to be completed by May 2024.
“One of our priorities is the safety of our community and having a well-lit City is key to bringing that safety aspect to our community,” said Rolando Salinas, Jr., Mayor for the City of Eagle Pass. “Additionally, I would like to thank City Council and Administration for having their full support
with this critical safety improvement project.”
“The City of Eagle Pass is truly excited with our LED Conversion Project by having our streetlights converted to state-of-the-art LED street lighting,” said Ivan Morua, Acting City Manager. “The installation of the new brighter LED lights will bring a substantial savings to the City of Eagle Pass due to being more energy efficient and requiring less maintenance and replacement.”
