With the City of Eagle Pass facing current financial challenges from the 57 Music Fest loss of $2.3 million of taxpayers funds and an incomplete forensic audit and future issues such as the expansion of the Camino Real International Bridge No. 2, the need to obtain a second potable water source, building the necessary infrastructure to handle future traffic growth, bringing economic development, enhancing career and technical education for all residents, establishing the four year university in the community, and operating an open and transparent City government in the best interests of taxpayers, the time is right to elect a genuine, independent and mature person as the new Mayor of Eagle Pass, Jesus Casas, CPA—“The Right Leader at the Right Time.”

Jesus Casas has a distinguished public government and business record, including being the owner of his own business, Jesus Casas, CPA, for 25 years, extensive entrepreneurial and investment experience, and a stellar public service career serving as former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Maverick County Hospital District, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the City of Eagle Pass International Bridge System, Chairman of the City of Eagle Pass Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals, Board of Trustee of the Maverick County Appraisal District, Board of Trustee of the Maverick County Appraisal Review Board, Advisory Board Member of Candles for Life, Inc., and numerous other community organizations.
Casas has extensive experience working with public, private, and citizens stakeholders in fashioning creative and innovative solutions to all types of issues through collaboration and unity among all interested parties, particularly taxpayers.
Education is a key issue of interest and importance of Casas, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a major in Finance. He successfully earned his Certified Public Accountant license upon graduating from UTSA. He also pursued Post-graduate studies in accounting with a concentration in government, financial, tax, and managerial accounting.
Casas is married to Anette Petters-Casas for 26 years and they have three lovely children, Analaura, Sebastian, and Leonardo Casas. He and his family are conservative Christian Catholics in the community. He enjoys music, art, dining, sports, and travel.
Casas stated “I firmly believe that my extensive experience in public service and private business has prepared me to guide and lead the City of Eagle Pass in the next four years and develop innovative solutions among all stakeholders that will have significant impact on the future of the community. My personal integrity and competency are critical in providing strong and independent leadership to ensure the City of Eagle Pass maximizes fully its economic development potential and opportunities and improves the quality of life for everyone in the community. I also am experienced with public health as I served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Maverick County Hospital District.
