The United States Surface Transportation Board (STB) Office of Environmental Analysis (OEA) has issued a draft of Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the controversial proposed Green Eagle Railroad and Line to be constructed in the Seco Mines and Hopedale areas of Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas as part of the larger Puerto Verde Global Trade Bridge (PVGTB)project that includes two international bridges, one for railroad freight traffic and a second one for commercial motor vehicle freight, over the Rio Grande River at Eagle Pass, Texas and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico.
The Draft Environmental Impact Statement analyzes the potential impacts of both the proposed Green Eagle Railroad and Line and the Puerto Verde Global Trade Bridge for commercial motor vehicle crossings (bridges) because they would be built as a single port of entry for freight rail and commercial motor vehicle traffic between Mexico and the United States. The Draft EIS may be downloaded at www.greeneaglerreis.com for review and analysis.
The Surface Transportation Board has scheduled two in-person public meetings for comments regarding the Draft EIS for both Green Eagle Railroad and Puerto Verde Global Trade Bridge on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the International Center for Trade, 3295 Bob Rogers Drive, Eagle Pass, Texas 78852. Any person, entity, organization, stakeholder, or group interested in making public comments regarding the Draft EIS issued by the Surface Transportation Board’s Office of Economic Analysis may attend and present either or both in writing or orally their comments at the two in-person public meetings scheduled on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 in Eagle Pass.
Each person, entity, or organization will be provided three minutes to present their public comments concerning the Draft EIS at the two public meetings scheduled on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Additionally, they may also submit written comments on or before May 5, 2025.
The overwhelming majority of the residents of the City of Eagle Pass and Maverick County, Texas oppose the controversial proposed Puerto Verde Global Trade Bridge Project selection of the location of the two international bridges, Green Eagle Railroad and Puerto Verde Global Bridge, in the Seco Mines and Hopedale areas of Eagle Pass, Texas for a myriad of legitimate reasons. A large audience of Maverick County residents is anticipated to attend the scheduled April 29, 2025 public meetings at the International Center for Trade in Eagle Pass, Texas.
