City Names New Hike & Bike Trail in Honor of Former District Judge Cynthia L. Muniz

The City of Eagle Pass, Texas City Council unanimously approved on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at their regular meeting to name the newly constructed hike and bike trail at the Patsy Winn Sports Complex in honor of the late 293rd Judicial District Judge Cynthia L. Muniz for her extraordinary contributions to the youth and education in the community, officially naming it as the “Cynthia L. Muniz Monarch Trail.”
Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr. and the City Council will hold the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new “Cynthia L. Muniz Monarch Trail” on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 9 a.m. in the Patsy Winn Sports Complex, located at 1325 Patsy Winn Blvd., Eagle Pass, Texas 78852.
“The City of Eagle Pass is honored and privileged to officially name the new hike and bike trail in honor and memory of the late District Judge Cynthia L. Muniz whose love, dedication, commitment, and service to the citizens of Eagle Pass and Maverick County as a public servant with the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees, as a distinguished jurist, and fierce advocate for fairness, equal opportunity, transparency, and justice,” said Mayor Rolando Salinas, Jr.
“I am personally humbled and honored to host the ribbon-cutting ceremony of this beautiful “Cynthia L. Muniz Monarch Trail” as one of my last official duties as Mayor of Eagle Pass,” added Mayor Salinas. Judge Muniz served 20 years as the 293rd Judicial District Judge for the counties of Maverick, Dimmit, and Zavala before her retirement.
“The Cynthia L. Muniz Monarch Trail will benefit and serve the citizens of Eagle Pass for many years to come and enrich the souls and health of all who use its landscaped hiking and biking trails,” said Homero Balderas, Jr., Eagle Pass City Manager.
