On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the City of the Eagle Pass Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) hosted two public town hall meetings to discuss and plan for the development of the necessary transportation infrastructure in Eagle Pass and Maverick County to meet the present and future needs of the community, inviting residents, community leaders, and stakeholders to help shape the future of transportation in Eagle Pass.
This event featured two key public town hall workshops in the West Room at the International Center for Trade in Eagle Pass, Texas. The first workshop focused on collecting input from the local stakeholders, including all governmental entities, multiple law enforcement entities, first responder entities, public and private transportation entities, while the second workshop received feedback from the public residents and citizens within the community.
With the combination of these public workshops, the Eagle Pass MPO’s long-term plan is to gather information on transportation needs and priorities for applying for state and federal grants to fund the necessary transportation infrastructure projects needed in our community.
This event was sponsored by local governmental entitiies, including the City of Eagle Pass, Maverick County, the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas, the Texas Department of Transportation, and Southwest Area Regional Transit (SWART) to ensure all voices within the community are represented in shaping regional infrastructure transportation improvements.
The theme of the two public town hall workshops “Your Roads, Your Voice,” highlighted the importance of community input when designing solutions for current challenges and future growth.
The Eagle Pass MPO will be hosting additional public workshops in the Fall of 2025 for further public input.
