Dr. Giancarlo Diaz Completes Anesthesiology Residency at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
(Press Release-San Antonio, Texas) Eagle Pass, Texas native son, Dr. Giancarlo Diaz, M. D., successfully completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the prestigious University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio on June 30, 2025.
Dr. Diaz was presented with a recognition plaque for his “exemplary service” provided to the Anesthesiology Department of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio as its Chief Resident during July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
Dr. Diaz is a Class of 2011 honor graduate of Eagle Pass High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2014. Dr. Diaz earned his Doctor of Medicine (M. D.) degree from Texas Tech University Health Center in El Paso, Texas in May of 2021.
Dr. Diaz was honored with a celebratory dinner following his residency completion at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio hosted by his proud mother, Maverick County Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Tere Hernandez and family, at Perry’s Steakhouse & Grill in San Antonio. Accompanying Dr. Diaz at his celebratory dinner were his maternal grandmother Carmen Hernandez, sister Vanessa Diaz Barrera, brother Chamo Diaz, his girlfriend Dr. Anne Shapiro, family friends, and colleagues.
Dr. Diaz attributes his success and passion for medicine to his mother for instilling discipline, dedication, commitment, and faith as well as his many professors who mentored him during his studies.

Dr. Diaz is now in private practice exercising his new specialty in Anesthesiology across the United States amid the high demand for his professional services.
