Maverick County Hospital District Names Finalists for Vacant Board of Director Position

The Maverick County Hospital District (MCHD) Board of Directors received a total of 14 applicants for the vacant Board position of former Chairman Aaron Valdez, who resigned upon being elected Mayor of Eagle Pass, and has named four applicants as finalists for the position amid interviewing the candidates.
Named as finalists for the vacant Board of Director position include Dr. Eliezer Hernandez, M. D.; Dr. Anita Ramos Ramirez, Doctor of Pharmacy; Dr. Claudia Rodriguez Wright, Ph. D. in Education; and Stephany Valdez, local entrepreneur and insurance broker.
The Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors have scheduled a special meeting for Friday, August 22, 2025 at 4 P.M. at the District Conference Center, located at 3406 Bob Rogers Drive, Second Floor, Eagle Pass, Texas 78852 to consider and take possible action on the appointment of a new Board of Director to the vacant Board position.
Current MCHD Board of Directors include Dr. David Chisum, M. D., Dr. Cruz Alberto Bernal, M. D., Adolfo “Fito” Olivares, and Rebecca “Becky” Robinson.
The mission of the MCHD is “to promote the improvement of health and quality of life of the people of Maverick County by being the best medical service provider in the community.”
The MCHD was created in 1965 under the authority of Section 9, Article IX of the Texas Constitution. The MCHD is a “public governmental entity performing essential public function and to provide hospital and medical care to the District’s needy residents.”
Upon the appointment of a new Board of Director, the MCHD Board will be back to full strength with a total of five board members.
