Texas Sales Tax Holiday is August 8-10
EAGLE PASS, TX — The Texas State Comptroller Office is reminding families across the state to take advantage of the upcoming Sales Tax Holiday, which runs Friday through Sunday, August 8-10, 2025. During this special weekend, shoppers can purchase a wide range of back-to-school items tax free, including clothing, footwear, backpacks, and school supplies priced under $100.
The Texas Legislature sets both the date of the tax-free weekend and the list of eligible items. The Comptroller’s office estimates that Texas shoppers will save approximately $107.3 million in state and local sales taxes during this year’s event.
Texas’ Sales Tax Holiday was first implemented in 1999 to help families manage the cost of returning to school. Over the years, it has become a trusted tradition for back-to-school shoppers across the state.
