EAGLE PASS, TX – The City of Eagle Pass is proud to announce that it has been awarded $180,191 through the USDA Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG). These funds will be used to purchase essential commercial kitchen equipment for the City’s ghost kitchen, located within the Eagle Pass Business Incubator.
This investment will provide local food entrepreneurs access to a fully equipped, shared-use commercial kitchen, lowering start-up costs and encouraging culinary innovation. The project is designed to support small business growth, expand local food options, and create new job opportunities in Eagle Pass.
“Eagle Pass is a city on the rise, and this project represents the kind of innovation we are committed to bringing to our community,” said Mayor Aaron Valdez. “The ghost kitchen will give our entrepreneurs the tools they need to succeed while creating opportunities that benefit our entire city.”
City Manager Homero Balderas added, “We are grateful to the USDA for recognizing the importance of investing in rural communities. This project directly supports our long-term vision of building a stronger, more resilient Eagle Pass economy. We would also like to thank our Grants Department for their hard work and dedication in securing these funds.”
“This ghost kitchen will be a game-changer for local entrepreneurs,” said Interim Economic Development Director Adislada Mendoza. “By lowering barriers to entry, we are empowering individuals with big ideas to bring their businesses to life, and in turn, strengthen our local food scene and economy.”
The ghost kitchen project underscores the City’s ongoing commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, supporting innovation, and driving economic growth for Eagle Pass residents.
