Updated Statement from Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas Police Department
Eagle Pass, Texas (Sept. 28 2025) — We are heartbroken by the violence that occurred at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino. Two individuals were killed, and we are aware five others were transported to medical facilities in Eagle Pass and San Antonio. Currently, there is no credible ongoing threat to the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino or the surrounding community.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe ofTexas Police Department. We are receiving support from the Texas Rangers, the Texas Department of Public Safety and FBI San Antonio SWAT, Evidence Response Team (ERT), and Computer Analysis and Response Team (CART).
A state warrant was issued for Keryan Rashad Jones, who was apprehended in Wilson County by the Texas Department of Public Safety. While there is no longer a threat to the community, the casino remains closed as the investigation continues. We will provide additional updates as they become available.
We are grateful for the immediate support from the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office, Eagle Pass Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the FBI’s Del Rio Resident Agency and other partners who responded to this terrible incident as it was unfolding last night.
