Eagle Pass Eagles to Battle San Marcos Rattlers in Bi-District Championship

The mighty Eagle Pass High School Eagles have qualified for the 2025 Texas High School Football Playoffs with a third-place finish in District 30-6A with a 4-2 record and 6-3 overall in the season. The Eagles will battle the San Marcos High School Rattlers (6-4 overall and 4-2 District) in a U. I. L. Division 6A Bi-District Championship on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 7 p.m. at San Marcos, Texas.
The Eagles are on a two-game winning streak, defeating District opponent Laredo United South Panthers 45-24 on October 31, 2025 and District arch-rival Del Rio Rams 41-0 on November 7, 2025. The Eagles also have victories over the Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks 47-0 on August 29th; San Antonio Taft Raiders 29-28 on September 5th; Laredo LBJ Wolves 24-7 on October 9th; and Laredo Alexander Bulldogs 34-3 on October 16th. The Eagles three losses were against New Braunfels Canyon Cougars 31-41 on September 19th; Medina Valley Panthers 38-41 on September 26th; and Laredo United Longhorns 28-51 on October 25th.
The Eagles explosive balanced-offense is powered by seniors quarterback Xavier Barrera, running back Luis Flores, wide receiver Sebastian Velasquez, and sophomores running back Avery Embry and wide receiver Jeremiah Silva. Placekicker Ivan Cruz has a strong and accurate leg and may be the difference maker in a close game.
The Eagles self-proclaimed “Land Shark” defense is led by seniors linebacker Manny Fernandez, defensive end Anthony Paniagua, defensive back Rodrigo Garcia, defensive back Jorge Martinez, and sophomore linebacker Alex Ruiz.
The San Marcos Rattlers have a potent offensive machine and a stout defensive team that is sure to provide the Eagles their toughest game of the year. The Eagles will certainly have to rise to their highest level of play and skill to defeat the Rattlers. This will be a great game to go watch in San Marcos. All Eagle Pass Eagles aficionados in the San Marcos, Austin, Buda, Kyle, New Braunfels, San Antonio, and Central Texas area are encouraged to come out to San Marcos and support the Eagles.
The Eagles will receive a community send-off to San Marcos on Friday, November 8th at 10:45 a.m. in front of the Eagle Pass High School Rotunda on Second Street. Come on out to cheer the Eagles. Go Eagles Baby! Beat the Rattlers!
