Customs and Border Protection Statement on Five Mexican Law Enforcement Officers Crossing into U.S. Armed
UPDATE…
Five Mexican law enforcement officers were returned to Mexico this morning after arriving at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry with their service-issued weapons. The Mexican officers, who were going to a meeting with U.S. law enforcement officials, arrived at the port with their service weapons, contrary to U.S. policy.
The officers and their vehicle returned to Mexico, a short time later, without incident. Other than a brief traffic stoppage, there was no impact on the traveling public.
CBP Field Operations remains in constant communication with our counterparts from the Mexican side of the border and maintain a shared interest in keeping our mutual border secure however, there are times when an incident such as this occurs.
