Election Recount Confirms Valdez and Chacon Democratic Primary Victories subject to Official Canvassing of Ballots

The Maverick County Democratic Party held the election vote recount requested by incumbent Precinct One Constable Jesus “Jesse” Becerra and Incumbent Precinct 2B Democratic Party Chairman Juanita V Martinez regarding their run- off election losses to Rudy Valdez and Martha Chacon, respectively, on Friday, August 17, 2012, at the Maverick County Courthouse under the watchful eyes of the Texas Rangers.
After completing the recount for the Precinct One Constable election, challenger Rudy Valdez’s margin of victory was reduced from nine votes to seven votes, confirming his run-off election day victory over incumbent Becerra.
With regard to the recount of the Precinct 2B Democratic Party Chairman election, the recount increased Chacon’s margin of victory by one vote from 12 to 13 over Martinez.
These election recount results are not official until the Maverick County Democratic Party canvasses the run- off election results next week, tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, August 21st. Upon the official canvassing next week, all the Democratic Party run-off election results will become official and final.
