The mighty Eagle Pass High School Eagles will play their arch-rival Del Rio High School Rams for the coveted District 29-5A football championship on Friday, November 2, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. at home at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Student Activity Center.
The Eagles sport a 3-1 district record and 4-3 overall season record while the Rams are undefeated in district with a 5-0 record and 7-2 overall season record. The Eagles district loss is to Laredo Alexander.
If the Eagles defeat the Rams, then the Eagles would become district co-champions provided they also defeat their cross-town rival C.C. Winn Mavericks on November 9th. If the Rams defeat the Eagles, the Rams would win outright the district football championship. If the Eagles should beat the Rams and the Mavericks the following week, there is a possibility of a three way co-championship if Laredo Alexander beats its arch rival Laredo United with the Eagles, Del Rio, and Laredo Alexander each having a 5-1 district record.
This Friday’s game between the Eagles and Del Rio Rams promises to be an outstanding contest every loyal Eagles football aficionado doesn’t want to miss. It is a must see game. Del Rio is bringing all of its 34,000 plus residents to the game to support the Rams attempt to clinch its first district football championship since 1993 or so it seems. Loyal Eagles fans are expected to fill up the home stands as well to support the Eagles bid for a share of the district championship.
Come on out to the Eagles most important football game of the season to date this Friday, November 2nd, at home and cheer them on to victory.
