Eagle Pass Police Department Crime Report
July 26, 2014: Officers assigned to the Patrol Division of the Eagle Pass Police Department responded to the Eagle Pass Aquatic Center at approximately 12:00 AM in regards to persons in the pool. Investigating officer encountered five persons in the pool upon their arrival. A male and a female attempted to flee the area but were immediately detained by patrol officers. Three male juveniles and two female juveniles were detained and transported to the police department where they were processed and later released to the custody of their respective parents, all charged and cited for curfew violations and criminal trespassing.
July 26, 2014: Officers assigned to the Patrol Division of the Eagle Pass Police Department responded to the parking area of the HEB store at 12:00 am in reference to an assault with a motor vehicle. Investigating officers were informed a vehicle driven by 51 year old Petra Torres was attempting to ram her vehicle into a vehicle in which her husband and son were in. Torres was allegedly upset because her husband was intoxicated. Officers began to arrest Torres charging her with assault. Upon being arrested Torres began to resist the arrest by pulling away from officers and swinging her arms. Necessary force was utilized and Torres was arrested and further charged with resisting arrest. Torres was presented before Justice of the Peace Tere Melendrez and subsequently transferred to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $3,000 bond.
July 27, 2014: Officers assigned to the Eagle Pass Patrol Division responded to a motor vehicle accident at 1:00 am at the intersection of Main Street and Pecos Street. Investigating officers were directed to a male subject found unconscious near the area of the accident after he attempted to flee. EMS services were immediately requested and transported 23 year old Carlos Gabino Rodriguez to the emergency room. According to numerous witnesses Rodriguez had been traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Main Street and said to have lost control of his vehicle at the intersection of Pecos Street and Main Street. The vehicle struck and went over the curb colliding with a residential chain link fence and a utility pole. The vehicle continued across Pecos Street where it collided with a concrete and brick sign belonging to the Eagle Pass Housing Authority. The collision with the sign caused debris to damage several vehicles parked in the parking area of the Eagle Pass Housing Authority building. At 3:00 am Rodriguez was released from the ER where he was then arrested for driving while license suspended and outstanding municipal court warrants. A voluntary sample of Rodriguez ‘ blood was obtained and the charge of driving while intoxicated is pending analysis by the DPS crime lab. Rodriguez was later magistrated by Justice of the Peace Tere Melendrez and transferred to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $3000 bond.
