Middle Rio Grande Development Council elects new Officers at 44th Annual Board Meeting

The nine-county member Middle Rio Grande Development Council (MRGDC) elected new Officers at its 44th Annual Board of Directors Meeting held on Thursday, August 28, 2014, at the City of Eagle Pass International Center of Trade in Eagle Pass, Texas, announced Leodoro Martinez, Executive Director of the Middle Rio Grande Development Council.
Elected as President of the MRGDC Board of Directors was Real County Judge Gary A. Merritt, Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu was elected First Vice-President, Dimmit County Judge Frank Ponce was elected Second Vice-President, Enrique Garcia of Kinney County was elected Third Vice-President, and Uvalde County Judge William R. Mitchell was elected Secretary-Treasurer.
Following the election of its new Officers for 2014-2015, the annual MRGDC Board of Directors Meeting was held.
Honored and recognized at the 44th Annual MRGDC Board of Directors Meeting and Luncheon was longtime MRGDC Economic Development Director Betty Sifuentes who announced her retirement. Eagle Passan Ronnie Rivera will succeed Sifuentes as the new MRGDC Economic Development Director.
State Representative Alfonso “Poncho” Nevarez (District 74-D, Eagle Pass) was the keynote speaker at the 44th Annual MRGDC Awards Luncheon.
