Maverick County Clerk Sara Montemayor will celebrate 25 years of public service on Thursday, May 21, 2015, of which 20 of those years are as an elected public official. Montemayor began working with the County Clerk’s Office in 1990.
“I am pleased to be celebrating 25 years of public service for Maverick County on Thursday, May 21, 2015. Twenty of these years have been as an elected official. I would like to thank the community for their loyal support and continued trust in me to perform the duties of County Clerk,” said Montemayor.
Montemayor has served as the official public records custodian with five different Maverick County Judges, including Enriqueta Diaz, Rolando Jasso, Rocky Escobedo, Jose (Pepe) Aranda, Jr., and David R. Saucedo.
Montemayor noted that during the past 25 years, the County Clerk’s Office had undergone many changes required by law and technological advances. During these 25 years, Montemayor has many warm memories of serving the citizens of Maverick County with their public records needs and requirements.
“In the past 25 years, we have had many positive changes and for some time now we have been setting up to automate our records as much as possible. The lack of space in our office and technological advances have caused many changes. I will continue to push forward in implementing a fully automated and efficient public records system for as long as I am County Clerk,” added Montemayor.
Montemayor stated that in the past 25 years she has learned a lot and is very grateful that she was given the opportunity to work under former Maverick County Clerk Linda Sumpter and Deputy County Clerk Sofia Gonzalez, whom both taught her the importance of the County Clerk’s Office and customer service.
“Mrs. Sumpter was an excellent supervisor and trainer. She trained me very well. Mrs. Gonzalez also was very instrumental in my learning the duties and responsibilities of County Clerk. I am very grateful for what these two great ladies and public servants passed onto me,” added Montemayor.
Montemayor invites the citizens of Maverick County to join and visit her on Thursday, May 21st, at the County Clerk’s Office located on 500 Quarry Street to celebrate her 25 years of public service and learn of the new technology being used to manage Maverick County’s public records. Refreshments and cake will be provided to all visitors and guests.
