City of Eagle Pass Arctic Front Alert (12/8/16)
(PSA) The City of Eagle Pass Emergency Operation Center has issued the following warning for those who live, work, or visit our community.
An arctic front warning has been issued for our area. Temperatures will begin to drop tonight into the 30s with strong north winds of up to 15-25 mph, and into Friday morning.
The following precautions are recommended to keep safe during this cold weather outbreak:
- Make sure your home is properly insulated and has adequate heating. Check your doors and windows.
- Protect water and gas pipes with insulation or newspapers and plastic.
- Keep fire extinguishers on hand.
- As very cold weather sometimes causes power outages, be prepared with emergency lighting and/or keeping warm without electricity.
- Keep children, elderly and disabled inside home; if there is a need to go outside, make sure they are well covered.
- Protect pets and plants.

El Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia de la Ciudad de Eagle Pass hace una alerta a toda persona que vive, trabaja, o esta visitando nuestra comunidad.
Una alerta de un frente frió severo llegara a nuestra región. La temperatura empezara a descender hoy por la noche con temperaturas en los 30s con vientos fuertes de entre 15 y 25 mph y hasta por la mañana del viernes.
Le recomendamos las siguientes precauciones para protegerse durante este frente frió:
- Asegúrese que su casa este bien insolada y tenga calefacción apropiada. Revise sus ventanas y puertas.
- Asegúrese que las pipas de gas y agua estén bien protegidas con insolación o papel periódico y plástico.
- Mantenga sus extinguidores a la mano.
- Siendo que en algunas ocasiones las bajas temperaturas causan apagones, esté preparado con aluzado de emergencia y como mantenerse protegido de las bajas temperaturas.
- Mantenga a niños, ancianos y deshabilitados dentro de casa; si tienen que salir, asegúrese que estén bien arropados.
- Proteja a sus mascotas y plantas.
