Eagle Pass Eagles Picked To Finish Sixth in 2017 District 29-6A Football

The prestigious Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 2017 Magazine predicts the Eagle Pass High School Mighty Eagles to finish in sixth place in the District 29-6A Football during the 2017 Texas High School Football Season.
According to the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 2017 Magazine’s analysts, the Eagle Pass Eagles are in a highly competitive District 29-6A with larger schools that have higher student enrollment than Eagle Pass High.
Picked to finish first in District 29-6A during 2017 are the Laredo United High School Longhorns followed by the rising Laredo United South High School Panthers in second place, the San Antonio Southwest High School Dragons in third place, the Del Rio High School Rams in fourth place, the Laredo Alexander High School Bulldogs in fifth place, the Eagle Pass Eagles in sixth place, the San Antonio South San High School Bobcats in seventh place, and the Laredo Johnson High School Wolves in eighth place.
The Eagles will have 18 returning lettermen in 2017 with four offensive starters and six defensive starters from a team that finished 4-6 overall and 2-5 in District 29-6A. The Eagles expect to improve in 2017 and be competitive every week.
Among the Eagles players to watch on offense include Quarterback DeeAndre Torres, running back Ricky De Los Santos, wide receiver Jose Riojas, offensive linemen Jorge Guardadoand Tito Villarreal, and other promising players form junior varsity moving up to varsity this year.
On defense, the Eagles players to watch will be defensive back/safety DeeAndre Torres, linebacker David Kypuros, defensive linemen Haran Rodriguez, David Santos, and Sebastian Hernandez, defensive end Mario Torres, defensive back Darwin Lechler, and other promising players from junior varsity moving up to varsity.
“District 29-6A will once again be very competitive with the pass happy Laredo United Longhorns and Laredo Alexander Bulldogs and the ground game oriented teams of Laredo United South Panthers, San Antonio Southwest Dragons, Del Rio Rams, South San Bobcats, and Laredo LBJ Wolves,” said Eagles Head Football Coach Tom Gonzalez. “All eight District 29-6A teams are strong and can beat any district opponent on a given day,” added Coach Tom Gonzalez.
Eagles Head Coach Tom Gonzalez and staff will be fielding a young team from whom they expect great things to keep the Eagles competitive in District 29-6A during 2017.
The Eagles officially kick-off the 2017 Football Season against the tough Medina Valley High School Panthers away in Castroville, Texas on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 7:30 P.M. in a non-district game.
