U.S. Border Patrol Agents Apprehend Convicted Felon
DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass Border Patrol Station arrested a Honduran man, who had a previous felony conviction.
On Nov. 10, agents arrested Carlos Mil Ruiz-Matute, 26, for entering the United States illegally. During processing, agents learned he was convicted of burglary in 2015 in Houston, and that there was a warrant for his arrest for alleged sexual assault of a child in Harris County. Records checks also revealed Ruiz-Matute had been arrested multiple times for state and immigration violations.
“Border Patrol routinely encounters dangerous people with criminal histories and active warrants. Agents’ constant vigilance keeps our communities safe,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Felix Chavez.
Ruiz-Matute faces prosecution for reentry after deportation – 8 USC § 1326.
