Dos Republicas Coal Partnership Seeks Renewal and Revision of Eagle Pass Mine Permit 42B
Dos Republicas Coal Partnership (DRCP) has applied for approval to the Railroad Commission of Texas (RCT) for the renewal and revision of its Eagle Pass Mine, Permit 42B, issued on May 8, 2013 for an additional five year term of its Eagle Pass Mine located approximately five miles north and northeast of the City of Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas.
The Eagle Pass Mine contains 6,348 acres of which approximately 2,629.2 acres will be mined or disturbed during the next five years in which the application for renewal and revision of Permit 42B is being requested. During this five year period, DRCP anticipates that the annual production of coal at the Eagle Pass Mine is going to be 2.8 Million tons (2.55 Metric Tons) per year, totaling 14 Million Tons overall during the five year period.
The Eagle Pass Mine permit area lies immediately east of FM 1588 (Thompson Road) and includes portions of the Elm Creek Watershed and a portion of the Maverick County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1’s Lateral 20. The Elm Creek Watershed discharges into the Rio Grande River just north of the City of Eagle Pass, Texas.
DRCP is publishing public notices of its application for renewal and revision of Permit 42 B Eagle Pass Mine, Docket No. C17-0009-42-C in local Eagle Pass, Texas newspapers for four consecutive weeks, both in English and Spanish languages, commencing on December 6, 2018.
A public notice is scheduled to be published in the Eagle Pass Business Journal for four consecutive weeks on December 6, 13, 20, and 27th.
A copy of DRCP’s application for renewal and revision of Permit 42B Eagle Pass Mine, Docket No. C17-0009-42-C for review and inspection by the public is available at the Maverick County Clerk’s Office, 500 Quarry Street, Eagle Pass, Texas 78852 and the Railroad Commission of Texas, 1701 North Congress, William B. Travis Building, Austin, Texas 78711.
The public may submit written comments concerning DRCP’s application for renewal and revision of Permit 42B Eagle Pass Mine, Dos Republicas Coal Partnership Docket No. C17-0009-42-C within 30 days after the last date of publication of the public notice.
In addition, the public may submit written requests for a public hearing must be filed within 45 days of the last date of publication of the public notice.
