New Eagle Pass City Manager George Antuna Starts Tenure

Eagle Pass, Texas Mayor Ramsey English Cantu introduced newly hired City Manager George Antuna to the local news media and citizens at a press conference held on Monday, March 4, 2019, at the City Council Chamber located inside the Eagle Pass City Hall, 100 South Monroe Street, on his first day of work and tenure with the City of Eagle Pass.
Accompanying Mayor Cantu were Mayor Pro-Tem Yolanda P. Ramon and City Councilmembers Rudy Villalpando, Luis E. Sifuentes, and William “Billy” Davis.
Mayor Cantu and the Eagle Pass City Council welcomed George Antuna to the City of Eagle Pass and vowed to work with him to improve the quality of life and economic development in the border community.
Antuna replaces former Interim City Manager Ivan Morua and former City Manager Arturo B. Rodriguez who resigned on December 27, 2017 after being one year in the post. Morua served approximately 14 months as Interim City Manager and will return to his previous position as Assistant City Manager.
Antuna worked at an insurance agency selling health insurance and previously worked as Economic Development Director for a municipality, Regional Director for former U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison during 2001-2005, and Special Assistant to former Texas Lieutenant Governor Rick Perry during 2000-2001. Antuna unsuccessfully ran for the Texas House of Representatives as a Republican Party candidate in November 2006. Antuna most recent experience was as President of Timeless Sunsets, LLC during 2013-2019, a public relations and communications company. Although Antuna has no City Manager experience, he served as a City Council member of the City of Schertz, Texas during 2010-2013.
