The Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors and Administration held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, July 26 2019 to officially launch the local governmental entity’s free medical transportation service to its patients, announced District Administrator Alma Martinez.
The Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors is composed of Jesus Casas, CPA, President, Rebecca Robinson, Vice-President, Aaron Valdez, Secretary-Treasurer, Adolfo “Fito” Olivares, Board member, and Juan Manuel “Chuco” Farias, Board member.
Board President Jesus Casas stated that a nominal fee of $5 will be assessed, but that if the patient can not afford to pay the nominal fee the transportation service will be free to the patient. Casas added that the Board of Directors and Administration had invested in the purchasing of a mini-bus for the service and hired drivers for it so that patients of the several healthcare clinics of the local hospital district do not have to miss their appointments or have to go out of town for their healthcare needs. Casas noted that the Board decided to put its patients first by assisting them with medical transportation services.
District Administrator Alma Martinez stated that the medical transportation service is available to all patients of the Maverick County Hospital District medical clinics or programs, including the Physician Specialty Group, Primary Care Services, Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, Diabetes Nutrition Program, and others. Martinez added that this medical transportation service will decrease the number of patients who fail to show up to their appointments or require rescheduling due to lack of transportation. She encourages all patients of the Maverick County Hospital District who do not have transportation means to attend their appointments to take advantage of this medical transportation program by calling at (830) 757-4900.
Local public dignitaries, business and civic leaders, patients, and Hospital District Physicians, Providers, and staff attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 30th. Guests were provided refreshments and appetizers following the ceremony.
