CBP Officers Intercept $235K in Methamphetamine in Seizure at Eagle Pass Port of Entry

EAGLE PASS, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers maintained strict vigilance and seized more than $235,000 in methamphetamine in a single enforcement action at the Eagle Pass International Bridge I.
“Securing the passenger environment is a critical mission for CBP and this significant methamphetamine seizure underscores the ability of our officers to remain ever-vigilant and focused on the narcotics threat while facilitating lawful travel,” said Port Director Paul Del Rincon, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
The seizure occurred on September 25, 2019 at the International Bridge I when a CBP officer referred a vehicle for a secondary examination. Following non-intrusive imaging system and K-9 inspections CBP officers discovered nine packages containing a total 11.77 pounds of alleged methamphetamine hidden within the door panels of the conveyance. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $235,451.
CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle, arrested the driver and turned the case over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
