The thundering Eagle Pass C. C. Winn Mavericks were blanked by the Uvalde Coyotes 17-0 on Friday, September 6, 2019, in a non-district football game in Uvalde, Texas.
The game was very competitive despite the final score as the visiting Mavericks played hard and competed until the end of the game. The Coyotes held only a 3-0 lead over the Mavericks at halftime as the Mavericks silver and black defense stifled the potent Coyotes offense at home. Not until the second half did the Coyotes manage to score two touchdowns to put the game out of reach and preserve the hard fought victory.
The Mavericks are now 1-1 overall in the season and will review the game film to learn what their strengths and weaknesses are early in the season while preparing for their next game against cross-town rival, Eagle Pass Eagles, on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 7:30 PM.
The Mavericks will seek to break the Eagle Pass Eagles winning streak of 13 consecutive wins in their 14th annual meeting rivalry game scheduled on September 13th, affectionately called the “Menudo Bowl” by many loyal Maverick Nation football aficionados. The 14th annual rivalry game will definitely be a highly competitive game as both teams are similarly matched and sport an identical 1-1 record going into the game.
