Native Eagle Passan Tres Barrera Called Up to Major League Baseball by Washington Nationals

Fulfilling a life-long dream is native Eagle Passan Tres Barrera who was called up to the Major League Baseball by the Washington Nationals on September 8, 2019 as part of their expanded 40 man roster as a catcher.
Barrera had just completed his season playing for the Washington Nationals AA affiliate Harrisburg Senators when Manager Matthew LaCroy called him to notify him that the Washington Nationals had selected his contract to join the Nationals on Sunday, September 8, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia in a game against the Atlanta Braves.
Barrera batted .249 with the Harrisburg Senators in the just completed 2019 season with a .323 On Base Percentage, and a .381 Slugging Percentage, including 23 Doubles, 8 Home Runs, 46 RBIs, 36 Walks, and 42 Runs scored. Barrera threw out 30 out of 104 base runners (29%) in 93 games in which he started in 91 of those games. He was selected as an Eastern League All-Star Team Member during mid-season.
Barrera was born on September 15, 1994 in Eagle Pass, Texas and resided in Eagle Pass until age 10 when his family relocated to the Rio Grande Valley. He graduated from Sharyland High School where he starred as a pitcher, short stop, and catcher and as quarterback of the Sharyland Rattlers. He received a scholarship to play baseball at the University of Texas at Austin under Head Coach Augie Garrido, where he starred with the Longhorns.
Barrera was drafted in 2016 by the Washington Nationals in the 6th Round as the 184th Pick as a catcher and was assigned to the Nationals farm system until September 8, 2019 when his contract was selected to the Major League Baseball by the Nationals.
Barrera was joined in Atlanta, Georgia by his parents, Felipe and Sylvia Barrera, and family members in his inaugural game on September 8, 2019 in Major League Baseball.
Barrera selected No. 73 as his Washington Nationals jersey number.
