The Eagle Pass Independent School District held groundbreaking ceremonies for construction of two new band halls for Eagle Pass High School and Winn High School on October 1 and 2, 2019 at each respective campus.
Eagle Pass Independent School District Superintendent Samuel Mijares stated that the total estimated cost of construction for the two band halls is $8 Million for a total of approximately 18,000 square feet. Mijares noted that that both schools have outgrown their band halls for quite some time, particularly Eagle Pass High School, and required larger band halls to accommodate the growth of the music programs and students at each school. Each school has approximately 300 or more students enrolled in the music and band programs.
Mijares thanked the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees for approving the construction of these two new band halls and meeting the educational needs of the District’s music students at each school.
The Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees is composed of Jorge Barrera, President, Hilda P. Martinez, Vice-President, Dr. Hector Alvarez, Secretary, Lupita Fuentes, Glenna Purcell, Victor E. Perry, and Christopher Hiller.
The Eagle Pass High School Groundbreaking Ceremony was held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, while C. C. Winn High School’s Groundbreaking Ceremony was held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
Construction of the two new band halls is expected to be completed in late 2020.
