Eagle Pass Eagles Outlast Del Rio Rams in Thrilling 24-17 Win in Overtime to Earn a Post-Season Playoff Berth

The mighty Eagle Pass High School Eagles rallied with five seconds remaining in regulation time to tie their arch-rival Del Rio Rams 17-17 on an 11 yards touchdown pass from quarterback Allan Rodriguez to wide receiver Jacob Ruiz and place kicker Erick Ramirez nailed the point after attempt, sending the game into overtime.
In overtime, the Eagles dynamic duo of quarterback Allan Rodriguez and wide receiver Jacob Ruiz once again hooked up on a 30 yards touchdown pass on a third down and 15 yards to go for first down to send the loyal Eagle Nation aficionados into pandemonium while place kicker Erick Ramirez took care of business by making the extra point attempt to give the Eagles a 24-17 lead.
The Eagles self-proclaimed “Land Shark Defense” was called upon once again in the season to hold a threatening offensive machine, the Del Rio Rams. The Eagles defense working in unison pressured the Rams offense in overtime and succeeded in intercepting an aerial pass from quarterback Matthew Mendez on a third down and 16 yards to go for a first down at the Eagles seven yard line, earning the Eagles a thrilling victory over the Del Rio Rams and qualifying them for the 2019 post-season playoffs as the fourth-place representative of District 29-6A.
The Eagles come from behind win over the Del Rio Rams will definitely go down in Eagles Football history as another classic game between the storied rivalry among these two teams, stunning the Del Rio aficionados, players, and coaches while sending the ecstatic Eagle Pass aficionados, players, and coaches to the playoffs.
