The start of the Christmas holiday travel season into Mexico on Saturday, December 21, 2019, saturated the two City of Eagle Pass International Bridges causing automobile lines to back up to the Skillet’s Restaurant area on Main Street, forcing the Eagle Pass Police Department to direct traffic at the major intersections leading to the two bridges.
Thousands of vehicles began to cross through the Eagle Pass-Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico border on Saturday, December 21st, as many travelers chose to go through our border to reach their destinations in Mexico.
Holiday travelers drove all types of vehicles, including automobiles, pick up trucks, vans, and trailers. Many vehicles were full of Christmas gifts and luggage for the trip into Mexico.
The Eagle Pass Police Department did an excellent job at directing and keeping traffic flowing smoothly to the two Eagle Pass international bridges while the United States Customs and Border Protection Officers at the two bridges inspected and processed Mexican retail shoppers coming to buy last minute Christmas gifts at local retail stores or enjoy their Christmas vacations in the United States.
This large flow of vehicles are expected to cross through Eagle Pass once again in early January 2020 as they return to the United States after the Christmas holiday season.
