CBP Officers Seize Crystal Methamphetamine Worth Over $580K at Eagle Pass Port of Entry
EAGLE PASS, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers at Eagle Pass Port of Entry recently seized a noteworthy amount of hard narcotics worth more than $580,000 in one enforcement action.
“This significant seizure illustrates the commitment our CBP officers have in keeping dangerous narcotics off our streets while processing traffic in a timely manner,” said Port Director Paul Del Rincon, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
The seizure occurred on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, when a CBP officer at the Eagle Pass International Bridge 1 referred a 2018 Nissan Kicks, driven by a 19-year-old male Mexican citizen for a secondary inspection. A total of 24 packages containing 29.01 pounds of alleged methamphetamine were discovered by CBP officers upon completing a canine and non-intrusive imaging inspection.
The narcotics have an estimated street value of $580,250.72.
CBP seized the narcotics and the vehicle. The driver was arrested and the case was turned over to Maverick County Sheriff’s Office U.S for further investigation.
