Eagle Pass Man Killed By Gunshot Identified

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that the male individual that was shot and killed on Sunday, January 12, 2020 near the intersection of El Indio Highway (FM 1021) and Rosita Valley Road in an altercation was identified as Jose Armando Ramirez, age 40, of Eagle Pass, Texas.

Maverick County Sheriff’s Department issued a press release stating that “on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at approximately 22:03 hours (10;03 PM), Maverick County Patrol Units responded to Rosita Valley Road and FM 1021 in reference to a male subject who shot another male subject. Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy observed two pick-up trucks and a male subject on the ground another using a cell phone. Deputy quickly detained the male subject who was using a cell phone and was placed in a patrol unit for safety purposes. Male subject identified as Luis Ramon Miranda (suspect) was later transported to the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department for investigation purposes. Deputies secured the scene where Criminal Investigation, Emergency Medical Services, Justice of the Peace, and Memorial Funeral Services were summoned to the scene.”

The press release added that “EMS arrived on scene where Deputies were advised that the male subject (victim) identified as Jose Armando Ramirez was deceased. Justice of the Precinct 3 arrived on scene and pronounced the male individual deceased at 22:50 hours (10:50 PM). Criminal Investigation Division arrived by location and processed the scene. Memorial Funeral Services later took possession of the deceased’s body. Balde’s Wrecker Service was also summoned where a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 and a 2003 GMC Sierra was inventoried and impounded to the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office for investigation purposes. Case remains under investigation.”
