Early Voting Period Underway for Eagle Pass City Special Officers Election

The City of Eagle Pass Special Officers Election got underway on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 with the start of the Early Voting Period and continues until January 28, 2020 at the Multi-Purpose Center, located at 480 South Adams Street, and concludes with Election Day on Saturday, February 1, 2020.
Eagle Pass registered voters will cast ballots for Mayor and two City Council positions in the City Special Officers Election. The Mayor position became open after the resignation of Mayor Ramsey English Cantu on November 10, 2019 in order to pursue the Texas Democratic Party nomination for House Representative District 74, while the two City Council positions became available when Councilmen Luis E. Sifuentes and Rudy Villalpando announced their candidacies for the vacant Mayor’s position.
Luis E. Sifuentes served about 11 years on the Eagle Pass City Council while Rudy Villalpando has 16 years of service on the City Council.
Vying for the vacant Eagle Pass City Council Place 2 position are Elias Diaz, Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza, and Frank Sanchez, while Rolando Salinas and Mayito Obregon are seeking the City Council Place 4 seat.
Early Voting commenced at 8 A.M. sharp on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the City of Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center, located at 480 South Adams Street, in Fort Duncan Park. The Multi-Purpose Center is open from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. throughout the Early Voting Period, except January 20th which will be closed due to Martin Luther King Day state holiday.
All Eagle Pass registered voters are encouraged to come out and exercise their right to vote in the City Special Officers Election of February 1, 2020.
A new City Council will be comprised after the February 1st election, joining incumbent City Council members Yolanda P. Ramon and William Davis.
