Senator Flores Congratulates Crystal City Mayor Frank Moreno on his Appointment to Governor’s Broadband Development Council
(Press Release) Senator Peter P. Flores congratulated Frank Moreno, Mayor of Crystal City, on his appointment by Governor Greg Abbott to the Governor’s Broadband Development Council. Mayor Moreno joins 14 other appointees from across Texas with terms set to expire on August 31, 2024.
“Congratulations to Mayor Moreno on his appointment by Governor Abbott,” said Sen. Flores. “I am very pleased that a man of his character, experience, and ability was selected for the Broadband Development Council. I view advocating for Senate District 19 constituents for appointments on statewide boards and commissions as one of the most important parts of my job as a State Senator. Our communities need and deserve a seat at the table. I have no doubt Mayor Moreno will represent Senate District 19 well.”
The Council, established during the most recent Texas Legislative Session by House Bill 1960, will research the progress of broadband development in unserved areas and the benefits of statewide access to broadband. By statue, one member of the Council must be an elected municipal official serving a population of less than 20,000.
