Eagle Pass to Host 2020 Babe Ruth Baseball 13-15 Year Olds World Series Championship during August 11-19

The City of Eagle Pass, Texas together with Eagle Pass Babe Ruth Baseball held a press conference on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at City Hall to announce that the 2020 Babe Ruth Baseball 13-15 Year Olds World Series Championship will be hosted by Eagle Pass during August 11-19, 2020.
Eagle Pass Mayor Luis E. Sifuentes stated that the City of Eagle Pass and its baseball loving citizens are honored to have been selected by Babe Ruth Baseball as the host site for the prestigious Babe Ruth Baseball 13-15 Year Olds World Series Championship at Moncada Baseball Stadium. Mayor Sifuentes welcomed representatives from Babe Ruth Baseball, Eagle Pass Babe Ruth Baseball, Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo, Eagle Pass City Councilman Rolando Salinas, and Mexican Consulate Ismael Naveja Macias to the February 19th contract signing ceremony held at City Council Chamber at City Hall to officially host the Babe Ruth Baseball World Series during August 11-19th.
Eagle Pass Babe Ruth Baseball President Morris Libson, Jr. stated that an estimated 1,000 people, including players, coaches, and parents, will attend the 2020 Babe Ruth Baseball World Series in Eagle Pass this summer. Libson added that a total of 10 teams will participate in the Babe Ruth Baseball World Series, including a team from Eagle Pass as the host city, a team from Mexico represented by Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, and eight regional champion teams from the United States. Libson noted that the 10 teams will be divided into two divisions of five teams each and will have pool play among their division teams and the top three teams of each division will advance to the World Series championship bracket to determine the world champion.
Libson noted that the City of Eagle Pass previously hosted two years ago the Babe Ruth Baseball 13 Year Old World Series Championship and Babe Ruth Baseball had been very pleased with the City of Eagle Pass and Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League management of this past World Series, garnering support to host this year’s World Series Championship again in Eagle Pass. Libson noted that North Dakota had hosted last year’s Babe Ruth Baseball World Series, which included a team from Eagle Pass as the Southwest United States Regional Champion representative.
Mayor Sifuentes stated that the City of Eagle Pass and its dedicated Parks and Recreation Department led by George Sanchez will immediately commence preparations for the Babe Ruth Baseball World Series. Mayor Sifuentes thanked Morris Libson, Jr. and Eagle Pass Babe Ruth League for promoting the sport of baseball in our community and bringing world class sporting events to our community. Mayor Sifuentes also thanked Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo for his support of the previous Babe Ruth Baseball World Series in Eagle Pass two years ago as well as his continued support of the 2020 World Series this summer.
Mayor Sifuentes also thanked Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico Mayor Claudio Bres for his support and agreeing to field a team of youths from Piedras Negras to represent Mexico in the Babe Ruth Baseball World Series.
Mayor Sifuentes, Morris Libson, Jr., and Babe Ruth Baseball representatives proceeded to sign the official contract to host the 2020 Babe Ruth Baseball 13-15 Year Old World Series Championship during August 11-19, 2020.
Mayor Sifuentes also thanked Mexican Consulate Ismael Naveja Macias for his support of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico fielding a team in this summer’s World Series.
